Yvonne is a Deaf professional who uses British Sign Language (BSL) and is a native user of Irish Sign Language (ISL). She was born into a Deaf family in Ireland, where ISL is her first language. She moved to England in 2010 and has used BSL in both her personal life and professional work ever since.

Yvonne has spent nearly 15 years working within Deaf organisations, supporting Deaf and Deafblind people in a variety of roles. She now works full time as a self-employed freelancer, providing BSL tutoring, BSL relay interpreting, BSL and ISL translation, and consultancy. She is also a trainee Sign Language Translator and Relay/Intralingual Interpreter in both BSL and ISL.

As a wife and mother of four children, three of whom are Deaf, Yvonne is passionate about improving access and raising Deaf awareness. She is actively involved in local groups for Deaf children and families in Essex and regularly supports community projects.

Alongside her interpreting and translation work, she teaches BSL Levels 1 to 3 online to both children and adults. Her lessons focus on building confidence, improving communication, and helping people understand Deaf culture. Yvonne is also a member of the Association of British Sign Language Teachers and Assessors (ABSLTA) and and the Association of Sign Language Interpreters (ASLI).
