IHL  is currently looking to recruit experienced British Sign Language teachers to work part-time on both online and face-to-face courses.

BSL Teacher

Start Date: April/May 2024 or September/October 2024

Possible timetable:

Weekday evening classes 18.30-20.30 or 18.00-19.30, and/or
Saturdays 10am – 1pm

Essential role requirements

You must be a qualified BSL teacher
At least two years’ of teaching experience
Experience teaching groups
The role is open only to those with the right to work in the UK

Desirable role requirements

Familiarity with the Signature qualifications and syllabi
Experience of conducting assessments for the three modules of BSL Level 1
Familiarity with Zoom

Based at our St Austell and Camborne campuses, we are seeking a dedicated, experienced and qualified person to join our growing team as an Associate.

Teaching on the Signature suite of Level 1 and 2 BSL programmes, you will follow the specification and prepare learners for their assessments at the end of their
course. You will engage with all aspects of the teaching programmes ensuring that students participate in innovative lessons that motivate whilst also supporting
progression and achievement.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who also has a teaching qualification (or experience of teaching/mentoring) however we would also love to hear from people with a passion for sharing their BSL skills and empowering people to engage confidently with the deaf community.

Brunel University London is seeking an hourly-paid tutor for British Sign Language (BSL) for the academic year 2024-25. The position involves teaching extra-curricular language courses.
Details:
Term Start: Week commencing Monday, 30 September 2024
Teaching Commitment: 4 hours per week
Delivery Mode: Preferably on-campus, but online delivery will be considered
Applicants must hold a teaching qualification and a first degree (or equivalent) in languages, linguistics or a related area. Candidates should have recent experience of teaching languages to adults, and experience of teaching in the HE sector is highly desirable.
The Interviews will take place in week commencing the 22 July to the 26 July.
Responsible to: Head of Modern Languages
Salary rate - £ 41.56 per hour (includes all lessons, preparation and marking)

Leeds City College are recruiting for a British Sign Language (BSL) Teacher to join our team based at our Enfield Campus (LS7 1RG).

The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in BSL, along with a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and communicative environment for all learners.

This role is part time 18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE), teaching four evenings 5.30pm to 8.30pm sessions per week, Mon-Thurs, but is open for discussion and change based on the successful candidate’s requirements. Additional hours have been allocated within the 0.5 to interview new students for the groups.

What You Will Do

Deliver high-quality BSL instruction to individuals and groups of varying proficiency levels.
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of diverse learners.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their language acquisition.
Promote awareness and understanding of Deaf culture within the community.

About You

Experience of Awards and Certificates at Level 1 and Level 2 in BSL.
Advanced certification in BSL (minimum Level 3, preferably Level 6 or equivalent).
Proven experience in teaching BSL, with a track record of successful student outcomes.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
A passion for advocacy and support of the Deaf community.
